professional mortgage market to escape credit crunchThose looking to acquire a professional mortgage could find that they avoid the negative implications of the credit crunch, according to an expert.

Scottish Widows has stated that, while the ongoing credit crisis has had a significant effect on the number of 100 per cent mortgages on offer, professionals are in a more comfortable position.

Commenting on the issue, Richard Clark, head of product development and marketing for Scottish Widows, said: "The impact on this area of the market has been very much less than everywhere else because there are lenders who haven't changed any of their criteria for professionals at all."

He added that professionals are in a prime position for approaching a mortgage lender and should be able to get increased loan to valuations or income multiples on their salary.

Mr Clark also stated that Scottish Widows treat all of their professionals in exactly the same way regardless of whether they are deemed higher risk.

Scottish Widows recently became the first organisation to reveal its London 2012 advertising campaign.
