Hips confusion set to be ended

Concerns that the introduction of Home information packs (Hips) would be hampered by accusations that loopholes would limit their effectiveness have now been ended, the Association of Home Information Pack Providers (AHIPP) has said.
AHIPP point to their Hip Code, originally introduced last year, as evidence that all such loopholes are unfeasible.
The association has also said that the vast majority of Hip providers are subscribed to the code, meaning any chance of circumventing the system now seems like a distant prospect.
We have witnessed a number of ambiguous claims over recent months from industry spokespeople who have remained intent on denying consumers the benefits of Hips. Rumours suggesting that homeowners may be encouraged to delay ordering their pack to avoid having a Hip, have now been quashed by the code," AHIPP director general Mike Ockenden commented.
"Responsible providers will not allow the processing of ambiguous or purposefully delayed Hips and will play a pivotal role in ensuring the widespread use and understanding of the packs for the benefit of all involved," Mr Ockenden added.
