Kirstie Allsopp has attacked Home information packs (Hips), saying that "everybody" stands to lose out from this week's introduction of the controversial packs.

Ms Allsopp, aka 50 per cent of the Location, Location, Location presenting team, said in a press conference this week that the packs would simply serve to slowdown the homebuying process and to make it more expensive.

The government introduced Hips for properties with four bedrooms or more on Wednesday (August 1st), but the move hasn't met with Kirsty's approval.

"The country's solicitors, surveyors, estate agents, builders, banks and building societies are all asking ministers to go back to the drawing board. The only people supporting them are the providers themselves," Kirsty said.

Sure enough, the Association of Home Information Pack Providers (AHIPP) director general, Mike Ockenden, was also in attendance, and once again defended the packs' introduction.

Earlier this month Mr Ockenden suggested that the government speed up its roll out of Hips to include three bedroomed properties.
