Adverse remortgage is a another way of saying ‘adverse credit remortgage’ or ‘bad credit remortgage’. In other words, a remortgage for somebody whose credit history is less than pure!
There is no shame in this, however. Adverse remortgages are for those who have struggled to meet their debt commitments in the past: this can be because they have had children, gotten divorced, been made unemployed or suffered some disability and haven’t been able to work. The availability of cheap credit over the past few years has also tempted many to take out personal loans or credit cards which have resulted in unserviceable levels of debt.
Most high street lenders like Abbey, Nationwide and the Halifax do not offer adverse remortgages as they only lend to people with good credit histories. However, there are many lenders available to mortgage brokers who offer can offer an adverse remortgage to applicants with poor credit. This can be satisfied or unsatisfied CCJs (County Court Judgements), defaults, missed payments, discharged bankruptcy, IVAs (Individual Voluntary Arrangements) or mortgage or secured loan arrears.
At The Mortgage Provider, we have extensive experience in arranging adverse remortgages for our clients. We are independent and ‘whole of market’ so we have access to every adverse remortgage lender in the UK. Leave your details below and we will search all of our adverse credit remortgage lenders for the best possible deal for your circumstances.
There are also many ways to avoid getting adverse credit in the first place- such as by budgeting carefully, having adequate insurance protection, and getting good mortgage advice- and we would be happy to advise on all of these matters.
